A (Friendly) Guide to Working with Me

A (Friendly) Guide to Working with Me

✦ My working style, quirk and belief

My work belief :

  • I don't define my worth solely from my work, but I treat it as part of my learning journey that nurtures me as a human being. Thus, I'll always seek underlying values in any work that I do and embrace both success and failures within it as part of my learning process.

  • A healthy and supportive environment is crucial in a workplace to help me grow. I don't believe in building a 'family-like' culture, but I believe in the importance of building a professional, respectful, and meaningful relationship between co-workers.

  • I value my well-being on top of everything and dislike being disturbed outside my working hours unless there's mutual consent. I committed to be productive during my dedicated working hours and keep my work-related stuff separated from my personal life.

  • I don't like being (overly) micro-managed. I believe that the most effective way for someone to grow is to define their own way to solve something, be open-minded for feedbacks and reflect

How I communicate :

  • In most cases when things need to be explained further, I feel more confident and comfortable articulating things verbally rather than in writings.

  • I'm not taking any work-related kinds of stuff personally. Hence I always open to any feedback coming and appear to be quite candid with my peers

  • I take some times to digest things, so I might not always respond quickly to your statements/questions

  • I always appreciate an early heads-up/narratives before the main headline, as it helps me understand things better, especially when you expect me to carry a specific task.

My strengths :

  • Communication. I love interacting with people, and I'm OK with talking in front of many of them. Whenever I'm up into something, I always make sure that every decision/act is well-informed to avoid miscommunication.

  • Optimistic and can-do attitude. I'm always up to any challenges and treat them as a valuable learning source while committing to try my best

  • Organized and detail-oriented. A neat workplace keeps me (and my stakeholders) happy. I keep proper documentation of my works in the hope that others can easily navigate through them.

  • Highly adaptable. I can easily adjust to changes and able to respond quickly to changing ideas or responsibilities.

  • When in doubt, I ask questions. I'm OK with not knowing things, so I won't hesitate to ask around and seek new knowledge from any possible sources.

Things I do that may annoy you :

  • Sometimes I ask something in a very detailed manner which can be both intimidating and burdensome. It might be either because I'm still failed to grasp the whole ideas or just a way to ensure myself if we're truly on the same page

  • Perfectionist. You might find me fixing your asymmetric post-its in Miro or spending too much times to tidy up my report slides

  • I might talk too fast out of my natural habit, so please let me know if you find it hard to follow the conversation (I'm working on this!)
